Kaweco Al Sport Review

This is my first Kaweco. I have been searching for a fountain pen for a while. An investment piece, one that not only writes well, looks modern and minimal but that is pleasant to look at as well. I have searched online extensively and was looking for something that would move away from the contemporary look of fountain pens. When I first came across the Kaweco Al Sport, I was instantly attracted to the design.

Pocket fountain pen made of solid steel. Steel nib and iridium tip for ink cartridges. (closed version has a length of only 10.5cm and open version 13.5cm)

The Al Sport series can be called a real survivor. Traditional design combined with modern materials and surfaces. The Al Sport is being produced in solid Aluminium, but are also available in the brass and steel versions. I opted for the Steel version because I prefer the extra weight and opted for the extra fine nib. The nibs are interchangeable and are available in extra fine, fine , medium, broad and extra broad.

These pens, “small in the pocket, large in the hand”, are best known for their handy size. Closed they are very compact and easy to carry, but when you post the cap, the Al Sport pens transform into a full-size writing instrument.

I was also given the Kaweco SketchUp Raw Polish pencil. The pocket clutch pencil made of solid brass with raw polish finish, metal tip and push-button mechanism. ( 5.6 mm polymer leads with integrated sharpener). Both were delivered in an attractive gift box, but was I was also gifted the Kaweco leather pouch for 2 pens. (colour brandy)
I will be testing them out for the next month, but so far I like the look and feel of both options.
